The gymnast linked to Vladimir Putin: Alina Kabaeva

By Natalie Paris

The young gymnast linked to Russian president Vladimir Putin has been
described as the most beautiful woman in Russia and its most successful
female rhythmic champion to date.
<li>Vladimir Putin denies reports of marriage to Alina Kabaeva

Olympic gold medallist Alina
Kabaeva, 24, is renowned for her flexibility and agility, and recently
topped a poll of attractive women in a Russian magazine.<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" hspace="0" width="618"><tr><td width="618"></td></tr></table>
Miss Kabaeva, who likes pop music, Tom Cruise and Demi Moore, won gold in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-round final in the 2004 Olympics.
She had previously claimed bronze in Sydney after she dropped her hoop during an exercise and had to leave the competition area to retrieve it.<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" hspace="0" width="618"><tr><td width="618"></td></tr></table>
Born in Uzbekistan, she was in training to be a gymnast by the time she was five years old, despite not being as lean as some of her fellow
competitors. But despite her success, her career was dogged by a knee injury, which saw her shift her focus to the political arena. <table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" hspace="0" width="618"><tr><td width="618"></td></tr></table>
After semi-retiring she became a parliamentary deputy last year.

Her appointment followed a reported move by the pro-Putin United Russia party to include more young, beautiful women in the State Duma.<table align="center" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" hspace="0" width="618"><tr><td width="618"></td></tr></table>
Her last known gymnastic performance is thought to have been in November in Austria. She has also worked as a model and a waitress.

Only tourists love it. Otherwise it's a cesspit, no two ways around it.
